New York, NY -- Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), AFL-CIO Local 459 in Lansing, Michigan today joins workers in six states in a three-day multi-union strike against the American Red Cross (ARC) over unfair labor practices. The Lansing strike began at 9 a.m. (PDT) Wednesday.

Union workers have won $30 million in back pay from the Massachusetts Trial Court system. It’s the largest settlement of its type in state history. The Hawai'i Nurses' Association (HNA) announced its affiliation with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), AFL-CIO today. "Our affiliation with OPEIU is a landmark decision for us and signals our intention to take our place in organized labor," said HNA President Joan Craft, RN.
